Career Guidance Program of SHG Federation

Career guidance is a process in which a qualified and experienced career counselor helps the students learn about selecting a program of studies, and preparing for a career.

Importance

Of late, aspirants among the sangam member’s children for developing a good career, from a variety of choices, are increasing everyday. After the formation of the SHG Trust, innumerable number of programs has been conducted for the holistic development of Sangam members.

The career guidance is a course of action developed as another initiative of the Trust. The SHG Trust has already identified some branches and individuals who are really in need of such a program.

Our methodology for career guidance takes into account, not just occupation but also the needs and wants, capacities and potentials, excitements and anxieties, insights and so on. SHG Career Guidance is designed specifically for sangam member’s children who are looking to explore career options with the help of experienced professionals. We focus on career related issues like career and course exploration, career change, personal career development and other career related issues.

The Scope of SHG Career Counseling

SHG Career Counselling offers a safe, confidential and non-judgmental context in which at the end of program the students will be able to

  • Gain clarity and right perspective on the academic issues.
  • Receive the support they need to resolve issues and make decisions.
  • Explore their personal resources and aptitudes.
  • Understand new career prospects and strive for personal development.
  • Make a proper and informed decision for their career.

Objectives

  • To uplift and strengthen our Sangam members children mentally to explore various learning experiences.
  • To make them aware of choosing the right career option or the appropriate course according to their aptitude.
  • To Identify their values, aspirations and goals.
  • To render career counseling through proper advise by introducing them various courses and its prospects for a bright future.
  • To teach them various household tasks and responsibilities as students alongside their schooling to make them more practical.
  • To uphold academic values and to promote its ideals.
  • To keep and preserve dignity of our Sangam members children with highest academic proficiency.
  • To understand their academic problems and unpleasant troubles in the right perspective and to act proactively.
  • To enhance their personal growth to have ample exposure in the society.
  • To teach them best scholastic and learning techniques.
  • To sharpen their career and future.

Program Management and Operations

The program will be organized by SHG Federation with the help of Cluster leaders.

Resource People / Facilitators

The Resource person/Facilitator will deliver some bits and pieces of information in the form of, advice, or guidance by introducing a range of services.

The participants

There will be maximum 50 participants for a single training program that lasts for 6 hours. The participants are selected with the help of Branch managers and Area managers. Age should be between 14 to 20.

Study Aids & Tests

A broucher is designed exclusively for this program to distribute through the Branches to sensitize the Sangam members about the need of Career counseling.

Notes specially prepared for the proposed program will be made available to the participants at a nominal cost.

The tests typically include: interest inventories, aptitude tests, cognitive ability tests, and personality assessments.
