Surya jyothi project is supported by CHF International and funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Nagpur to provide solar energy mechanism to ensure a better life for the urban poor.
Project propose to launch a sustainable campaign to promote clean energy sources among the poor in the urban localities in Nagpur, Maharashtra state, India as a means for sustainable development and women empowerment. We propose to develop clean energy linked micro finance products which would directly influence the livening style of the poor.

Goal
To provide sustainable energy opportunity to the urban poor.

Objectives
To mobilize and activate the community to respond to sustainable green energy prospects by providing solar lamp accessible and affordable to the slum communities and hawkers of Nagpur.
Develop community based entrepreneurship to promote green energy channel.

Target area:
The target area is in the Urban slums of Nagpur, Maharashtra. 20 slums will be selected based on the demand and 10 hawker’s zones.

Target Population
3000 families of 20 slums and 10 hawker’s zones.
